I'm always tempted to procrastinate, tempted to lie, tempted to lust (over material objects, not people), tempted to gloat, tempted to glutton, tempted to anger, tempted to hate, tempted to sin. I guess I'm just human; imperfect. But made whole and pure again in God. I want to rid the thoughts that might lead me to sin. Googled "prayer to rid temptation" and the prayer from St Benedict's medal was the first on the search list. Not sure if this is right for a Christian but it is really apt:
VADE RETRO SATANA;
NUNQUAM SUADE MIHI VANA.
SUNT MALA QUAE LIBAS;
IPSE VENENA BIBAS!
Get behind me, Satan;
Never suggest vain thoughts to me. The cup you offer is evil;
Drink the poison yourself!
And in Jesus' name, Amen to that!
