You're the awesomest friend that one can have and it's been a blessing having a friend like you! You've certainly brought a lot of fun and laughter into different people's lives and I'm sure that they are all thankful for it! I remember the times back in Fairfield and I think I would't have had a happier school day if you weren't around. All the nonsense, gossip and laughing over everything,... I really cherish every moment! I don't mind attending classes again back in Fairfield as long as you are around! You really do look our for your friends and genuinely care about us!

I want to become a proper blogger so let this overdue post atone for it (& I'm kinda bored studying -.-). Turning 21 hasn't caused much change in my life and all I know is that now, I can sign consent forms without my parents' acknowledgement and that I'm 'eligible' for corporal punishment under the state.

Anyway, I'm grateful to all those who turned up and I wanna thank you guys for all the really nice presents! Thank you Xiangyuan, Meiyi and Lionel for the nike tights, cute dog bag and topshop underwear. Have used them all! Thanks Janice for the skirt! Huge thank you to Miranda and Kahmun for the OPI Minis, one of the best presents ever! Next best useful present is the konad nail polish! Thanks to my dear 08S26 girls! I haven't used them yet because I have had bad experiences with the stupid nail plate and stamping kit. Thank you dear fairfield clique for the Dr Martens and Topshop card! Need long socks to wear my sexy dark blue Dr Martens! Thank you Dorothy for the chocolate liqueur, the whole bottle was gone in one dessert meal, heehee :D Thanks Steph for the citigems bracelet and earrings! I have been wearing them a lot! Thank you Uncle Fabian, Uncle Paul, Natali, Aunty Sabrina & Kochi for the Tiff&Co bracelet! Thank you Bavani, Renu and Priya for the vintage red box bag! Thank you canoeing team for being part of my JC life and making it ever more fun and thanks for the Jessica Simpson perfume! Thank you Luke for coming too and trying to cheat at my birthday theme, and for the awesome scent of Britney Spears! Thank you natnat for the Bali souvenirs and the 1TB hard drive! Last but not the least, thank you Edwin for this Macbook Air from which I'm currently using to type this post. I'm still trying to figure out how to work this Macbook; it has given me much pain during the final weeks of spring semester but I'm quite nifty at it now during lectures. Finally, I thank my parents for taking care of me over these twenty one years!

Now that's over, more about my birthday which was held on 8th April at Fort Canning's White Studio. My actual birthday is on the 13th of April. Anyway, I was expecting more people to come but I wouldn't have been able to attend to them as much as I wanted to so, thank God. Also I thank God for holding the rain away from my party. Yes, it did rain but it didn't poured for hours and hours, just a short while.

Ugh, it sucks being sick. My body's weak, I look tired and I feel like a piece of shit. Not really sure how exactly does a piece of shit feel but I sure do hope I get well in time for training. I wanna get back in shape and regain my fitness to complete another 42.195km this year. Quite a journey it will be but it's only gonna be like 6 months. & I know it'll pass by really fast though it's gonna be a long and painful process and I know I'll feel like giving up and sometime I'll be lazy, but if any of you that reads this, refer me to this and shake me from my self-pity! Hope I'll be able to run well tomorrow. zzzZZ. At work and suffering a little. Can't wait to plonk myself in bed.

The Best of Penang Food (Part 1)

School's starting tomorrow! Sigh, 3 weeks of holiday flew by just like that! Ate a lot lot lot and am gonna suffer at training tomorrow ):

Anyway, during this term break, I went to Penang again with Edwin and ate more food! This time, we didn't really do much, just more eating and catching up with his friends. The previous trip had tons of beautiful pictures because of all the sightseeing. Anyway, forget about all the food reviews you see on TV regarding Penang food. You need a Penang-nite to know what's authentic and what's not, that's why I have my boyfriend. He is pretty much the food expert. Hmm, he can't cook hawker fare like char kway teow but he makes awesome western food and a bit of Japanese infusion kind of food.

So, here's what I think is the best of the best in Penang!

Mee Udang

Also known as Ayu's Mee Udang, it's certainly one of the best! I haven't tried other places but this certainly blows your tastebuds into smithereens. It's sweet, not spicy plus fresh and succulent prawns! The photos aren't that fantastic but I tried my best. Didn't bring my dad's Canon 7D, all I had was some pink point and shoot 5-megapixel camera...

This photo was taken from the previous trip, in the beginning of the year. I can't believe I've been to a country twice in a year already. The one before that was back in 2004, the tsunami year. Penang's a great place for great food! Come on down if you want your stomach to be properly fed! Hahaha, why am I promoting this island? Anyway...

The above photo was taken just recently, since I didn't like all that extra onions and stuff, I was smart this time round and remembered to ask for no onions and those green stuff. Slurp slurp slurp! I don't know when's the next time I'll be back in Penang so I savored the Mee Udang really slowly.

Look at the prawns! The huge prawn on the right was really gigantic. Seriously, the prawns in Singapore cannot be compared to these prawns at Ayu's Mee Udang. A pricey RM12 but it's really good food, the comfort-food kind and the size of the prawns makes up for it. The soup, needless to say, brings together the whole dish. It's tasty and you'll just wanna keep drinking it! It doesn't make it gelat or anything. Great stuff!

Bonus: Udang Fried Rice (I forgot what's this in Malay)

Since it's my 2nd time here and Edwin was a little hungry, he ordered this! Not bad, but I still prefer Mee Udang. This fried rice plus prawns cooked Malay style combination works! It's a bit close to the Nasi Lemak Goreng so it's tasty but since it's rice and not soup, you'll get stuffed easily and gelat. Huge prawns again, not like Singapore's cut-into-half, two 50cent sized kinda prawns.

Also a little bit pricey for the locals there, but for us Singaporeans, RM12=SGD4.97, so I guess we can't complain?

I can't give you driving directions cause I'm not familiar with the roads in Penang. If you're in the Gurney or Georgetown area, it's quite a drive but it's all worth it! Yummy food! There's a lot of other Mee Udang in that area close to Ayu's so if you have tried it and whether it's good or not, do let me know!
