UB orientation; fall 2010

okay, i haven't really done a proper post in quite a while

24-25 august 2010
heehee, i knew it would take me like only 20mins to get to school & like the registration would take pretty long, so i only left house at like 8.15am. we had to reach there at 8.30am, but i only reached there around 8.50am due to traffic & like when i got there, thank god there wasn't anybody smoking in the morning cause the other clear pathway had been blocked for construction. while queueing for orientation, i was just looking around, analysing the clothes that people wore. haha, i don't know what to wear for first day of school man.

after registration, we were all seated in lt 1.02 & there was about 5hrs of talks to go through -.- got posted to og 3, was worried about making friends & stuff. but thank God! i had siewyi in the same og! YAYYYY :DDD we were both damn happy that we have like friends, which was each other, in the same og! i cannot stress how much relief that was for me to know somebody in the og before even ice-breakers even started. during the long & mundane talks, i was just glancing around the lt. there were breaks whereby i caught up with friends who were in UB as well ((: hahaha, from fairfield, i was glad to see samantha c & not so happy to see m tan. there were quite a number of pioneer jc people as well. & YAYY, i had sonia gan in the same og as well! hahaha, & the number of boys to girls were like 7 to 1. & this was the time i spoke sooo much chinese in my entire life i think. the china girl's command of english wasn't that good so everybody conversed with her in chinese. she's quite a nice girl to talk to but sometimes i really don't wanna talk to her because my brain hurts from all that english-chinese & chinese-english translating. a few times like i totally just gave up talking to her cause i really couldn't find the words to express some things to her. like for games, people had to explain to her how the game works but i really couldn't!

after icebreakers & phototaking, we were on the bus going to this moe changi campsite near nsrcc. where my brain was just doing critical analysis. there were like 17 of us that remained for the rest of the orientation. 1 boy, 16 girls. 2 girls were foreign students, a prc & an indonesian. then, 5 of us were from pjc, FIVE IN THE SAME OG. me, rachel f, carol & sonia g & adilla. then, siew yi from jj. fadilah from innova. the only boy, desmond, was from tp. shanise from nj. samantha from ac. & the rest, i can't remember.

got into our lodging. the whole campsite was like sand-laden & the wind screwing our hair every minute. proceeded with within-og games. zzz. yeah, the games were only quite fun but making new friends was what made it much better. campfire was like super fail. we had to do like charades, a skit & a song all in 1 min. we pretty much embarrassed ourselves out there but i admit, og 6 had the best out of everything.

then next was, the ultra-realistic-fun haunted house i've ever been to. BEST BEST BEST BEST (Y) hahahahaha. really. it even made girls cry & shake & boys worried. not me though. plus, the fact that this camp is in august, which is the chinese 7th ghost month, more people were frightened. heehee. oh man, like you could hear people screaming & then crying while waiting for your turn. i really wasn't afraid or anything, fatigue & boredom was more of it. my group of 4 consisted of me, kiby (the china girl), chumpa & desmond. the other two girls were really scared. haha, they both held on to desmond's hands for their lives :DDD hahahaha. but i really pitied kiby, at the end of the thing she was totally crying & shaking. btw, i was laughing my head off throughout the nightwalk.
1st part: a touchy nun that provided instructions for the walk .thank goodness she touched me not the china girl cause she was already freaking out in the canteen. when the nun touched my back, i was like: 'omg, could you please stop touching me' & i brushed her hand away. desmond was like, thank goodness she stood there cause if she touched the other two girls, they'll be frightened out of their wits. the nun was really realistic.
2nd part: 2 bloody ghost schoolchildren whereby we had to play chapteh & hopscotch with them. i was in the chapteh group with the prc & it was the ultimate fail can't play that for nuts. i think the bloody schoolboy just gave up on us & sent us on our way.
3rd part: a quick sudden shot of water by one of the council exco whom was hiding behind some barrels. the girls screamed but i went: 'damn it, my iphone! shit shit shit, is it working?' so he said sorry & sent us to the screaming lady. she just screamed on & on making us walk faster.
4th part: the joker-lookalikes. at this point of time, chumba & kiby were freaked out already & just wanted to get it done & over with. they were walking soooo fast. that the jokers could only spray me with that party string thingy.
5th part: BEST BEST BEST part. toilet scare. many girls quit the walk here. the china girl was just crying that she just closed her eyes throughout, i think. 4 creepy people in the toilet. they gave us matches to light our way but it didn't really work. i saw the first guy in the communal showers & warned everyone that there would be someone behind us. then there was the screaming bloody girl in the toilet. BEST I TELL YOU, her scream, hair, makeup, costume. but she forgot to keep her iphone. then there was this crying girl on the sink. super good. then one more last creepy person at the end of the toilet.
i know i probably didn't describe that well, but seriously, best haunted nightwalk ever. TWO THUMBS UP! (Y) (Y)

after the nightwalk, more waiting time & then shower & then sleep. i was sooo tired that the moment i covered my face with my jacket to block out the lights, i slept. even those bloody planes touching down or taking off making loud noises, couldn't wake me. i only awoke twice cause they were really loud but i fell asleep immediately after they passed. hahaha, seriously, the planes fly over our campsite ever 5-10mins. & the song 'airplanes by b.o.b & hayley williams' was sang the most times.

inter-og games right after breakfast. hahaha, i think this was the most bonded time of og 3. the games were ughh, but the friends that i played with made it soo much better. i was like, i'm gonna play my best for the team! during captain's ball & pacman catching, i took my slippers off to play. unprotected feet & the uneven rocky sandy terrain, nono. but for the og, i must. hahaha, did enjoy myself especially the part whereby i was the last person in the pacman game to be caught & then i got cornered & i just screamed & everybody laughed. hahahaha.

then it was packing & prize presentation & back to school & then back home. zzz. even though my house to school is really near, the taxi fare was like $7.20 by the time it got to my house. thank goodness i shared cab with my og mate samantha. hahaha, i just call her sam.

overall, i give this camp like 2 out of 5 stars. high points: most realistic haunted nightwalk that i have ever gone through, food was not bad & the friendships forged. low points: execution & time management ultra fail. i know i'm not really at a position to comment but like after all those years of planning camps & stuff, i pretty know what's a GOOD camp & a not-so-good camp. but hey, without this camp, i probably would be wandering around campus a lonely soul. so, YAYYY :D

kudos to the pictures from og 3's ogl, qazim
16 girls & 1 boy plus 2 ogl remaining for the orientation. man, i love the ub shirt! looks so american varsity-ish. not like nus or ntu or smu, hahaha.

hahaha, caterpillar game. super sickkk. all the girls pants were just riding up. hahaha. oh, & like one of the ub student council's exco is from FAIRFIELD! yayy, it's awesome to see people from fairfield rising up to be leaders :DD i'm really proud of her. she's like the welfare head.

charades. omg, guess what were we doing.

it's really an all girls team :D

half of og 3 :D

pukes. a waterbomb bag containing lunch! really. another had spaghetti in it. & oh, this bag bombed on rachel & she screamed amazingly loud.

our super fail group untangle.

hahahah, we were the only two out of the mess.

stupid wind screwing up our hair 24/7.
